Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula)
-- known as Western Mindanao. It is bounded by Sulu Sea on the North, Ilana Bay and Moro Gulf on the South, Misamis Occidental on the East and Celebes Sea on the West.

Most Visited Places:

Sta Cruz Island
 - small inhabitated island in Zamboanga City. It is famous for its pink coralline sand. The color of the sand comes from the pulverized red organ pipe coral from eons of surf erosion mixed with white sand.


Vista del mar
 - Favorite of city dwellers, offering them the may amenities they are wanting and the close proximity to downtown. The well manicured and lushly appointed garden grounds of this private beach resort provides a nice tropical welcome to paying visitor.
 


Zamboanga Gulf and Country Club
 -One of the gulf courses in the Philippines. Established in 1910 when the Philippines was an American territory. It overlooks the Basilan Strait. It was once used as a landing strip.


Dakak Beach Resort
- It is the closest place to paradise one could ever experience with its exceptional beauty and serenity. With a wide stretch of dazzling white sand, rich woodland and pleasant people.

Vintas
-traditional boat from the Philippine island of Mindanao. The boats are made by Sama-Bajau and Moros living in Sulu Archipelago Zamboanga Peninsula and southern Mindanao. It has a sail with assorted vertical colors that represents the colorful culture and history of the Muslim community. These boats are used for transport of people and goods.



Fort Pilar
- is a 17th century millitary defense fortess built by the Spanish Colonial Government in Zamboanga City, Philippines. The fort, which is now a regional museum of the National Museum of the Philippines.


Dapitan Shrine
-Is a protected landscape and memorial of the Philippines national hero located in Dapitan on the island of Mindanao. It preserves the farm site in barrio Talisay where Jose Rizal was exciled for four years from 1982-1896 after being accused of sedition and plotting the Philippine revolution in Manila by the Spanish colonial authorities.




Pasonanca Park
- is a protected area that preserves a major watershed in the Southern Philippine island of Mindanao in the Zamboanga Peninsula. It contains the headwaters of the Tumaga River in the Southern Zamboanga Cordillera mountain range that serves the water requirements or some 800,000 residents in Zamboanga City. Named after the village of Pasonanca located in the city's northern fringes where the Pasonanca Park, a public eco park, and the Abong-Abong Park, a pilgrimage site, can also be found


3003 Steps to Linabo Peak
 -It is one of the favorite eco tourism destinations in Dipolog. Situated at Sitio Dinginan, Barangay Lugdungan, the Linabo Peak was constructed in the early 90's by the government and quickly became one of its tourist spots. 


Native Delicacies:

Curacha
Is a chavacano name to a spanner crab or if translated literally it means roach. This crab is actually a natural highbred  from a deep sea crab and a big spiny lobster that can be found in the deep sea of Zamboanga.

Satii
Is actually a breakfast meal to the locals of Zamboanga. Satti shops open up as early as 4am and by mid day it would be rare to find a meal by then . Satti has only 3 small strips of roasted meats on a stick. The meat can be any from beef,
pork, liver or chicken.L
